Requirements gathering (data and process) is a vital part of successful enterprise information management and the development of services that will address the business’ goals. Even though there is recognition of the importance of requirements gathering for application development, not enough has been done to explain the underlying need for a requirements gathering process or to develop methods to improve processes already in use. Moreover, it has been common in the Information Technology industry to blame the victim: in other words to blame the customers for not being sufficiently clear about their business requirements.

This workshop will offer a methodology for discovering and analyzing business requirements, based upon actual experiences of the presenter at several companies. The attendee will gain an understanding of the importance of analyzing business data and process at the start of any imitative and will be able to create a plan for instituting business requirements strategy within their organization to improve the enterprise management of all aspects of information.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • Fundamentals of business data and process requirements identification
  • A methodology for gathering robust data and process requirements
  • The main artifacts for requirements management across the EIM spectrum (master data, data architecture, metadata management, etc.), their development and uses
