DESCRIPTION:Click for Latest Location Information: http://semtech2011.semanticweb.com/sessionPop.cfm?confid=62&proposalid=3962\nThe U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Enterprise Information Web (EIW) is a tool being developed with a semantic approach to federate disparate authoritative data sources across the DoD in near-real time, on-demand for enterprise-level analytic purposes. The approach leverages a modified Agile development method while adhering to the W3C standards of RDF, OWL and R2RML to unambiguously describe data in its native context and relate that data to domain-specific ontologies. This presentation will explain the problem set, outline the EIW approach, discuss the rationale behind the approach, speak to lessons learned and provide a working demonstration of the tool to date. Participants will understand how the DoD is using a semantic approach for business analytics and intelligence in the areas of investment management, capability assessment and policy compliance throughout the business mission area of the Department.
